#100giftcards

Several years ago I was scraping away paint with an old plastic gift card. (it's a great tool in mixed media painting!) I noticed that the card was layered with paint and it was looking pretty cool! It's kind of like when your paint palette looks like a work of art. Around the same time, my friend and I had been talking about having a "word of the year." I painted her word onto the gift card that I thought looked like a little painting and gifted it to her! She kept her card in her wallet as a daily reminder of her word. You know that little window where your ID is supposed to go? She kept it there! Way more fun to have a piece of art there, right? I loved this process so much! I decided it would be fun to paint #100giftcards and the project was born. I've been upcycling plastic hotel room keys and gift cards ever since.
